The devil works hard, but coronavirus works harder…
Now that autumn has arrived and the weather has truly taken a turn for the worst, booking a holiday seems like the most logical way to avoid seasonal depression and survive the long winter ahead. However, with coronavirus still very much on the loose and curfews and local lockdowns being implemented left, right and centre, it seems nearly impossible to know where we stand at home, let alone abroad. Following an update from the Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, it turns out there are now only six countries we can travel to without having to quarantine at either end!

Shapps announced on October 1 via Twitter that “We need to remove Turkey, Poland and Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba from the #TravelCorridor list this week. This means if you arrive in these destinations from 4am Saturday 3 October, you will need to self-isolate.” For anyone brave enough to still venture into these countries, you will be subject to a 14 day self-isolation period after your return to England, a potential quarantine upon arrival and a fine of up to £1000 if you do not cooperate.
As for the rest of us who are all quarantine-d out and can’t bear the thought of a self-imposed lockdown, here are the six destinations we can still visit hassle free.

Germany, Sweden, San Marino, Gibraltar, Italy (as long as you haven’t travelled to a ‘high risk’ country 14 days prior to arriving) and Greece (excluding Santorini, Crete, Mykonos, Serifos, Zakynthos, Lesvos, and Tinos) are all still on the cards. (Technically, you can visit Liechtenstein too, but you’d need to arrive via one of the aforementioned six countries to do so.) A world tour may not be possible at the moment but if you’re craving some time away, you have a handful of nice options without quarantining at either end. Travel corridors are always changing though, so check the official government list before making any concrete plans. Bon Voyage!
