You’ve never seen anything like it, unless of course you’ve managed to catch one of Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare’s iconic productions in the ten years that they’ve been performing. This unique theatre company gets a cast of professional actors together, hands them a load of booze and a Shakespearean script, and then draws the curtains on stages all around the world.
After a series of sell-out runs in London, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Austin, Minnesota and more, this is easily the maddest show you’ll get to see. Each night, before the performance begins, one designated actor is given four hours to get as drunk as they reasonably can, before attempting to reenact a Shakespeare classic. The result, naturally, is a totally smashed smash-hit.
Arriving at Leicester Square Theatre at the beginning of July, the Sh!t-Faced crew will be doing their thing with one of Shakespeare’s most loved comic tales, Much Ado About Nothing. What could possibly go wrong?
Sh!t-faced Shakespeare’s Director Stacey Norris says: “We have been performing Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® for over 10 years and I still regularly ask myself at the end of a show…how the hell did we end up here? Thruples, whole cast massacres, audience marriages, dance offs to the death. There is no formula and we genuinely have no idea how the show will finish on any given night. What I can be sure of is that everyone at Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® is a complete liability and takes great pleasure in watching their cast mates struggle…it’s the job of dreams!”
Catch Sh!t-faced Shakespeare’s rendition of Much Ado About Nothing at Leicester Square Theatre from July 5 to September 9, 2023.
