While we as mere (and inferior) humans wouldn’t want to eat most of what’s lying around Shrek’s swamp, this recreation of the grounds made entirely out of gingerbread sure is looking delicious.
From his little wooden cubicle that he bounds out of to the sound of All Star in the first movie to the ‘BEWARE OGRE’ sign in his yard, this exceptionally detailed masterpiece of gingerbread baking has it all.
Who do we have to thank for this creation? That would be the fine work of cake artist Michelle Wibowo working with Shrek’s Adventure! in London to bring the gingerbread beauty to the South Bank attraction. More than 50 hours of creation took place to bake and piece together every detail of Shrek’s Swamp, and it will be on display until June 12.
It all comes in celebration of National Gingerbread Day, which Lord Farquard sure won’t be a fan of judging by his merciless threats of removing the gumdrop buttons (not the gumdrop buttons!). The Muffin Man on Drury Lane sure will be, however, and like us, will inevitably be in awe of such a divine piece of gingerbread. In the words of Donkey, I like that boulder swamp model. That is a niiiiice boulder swamp model.
Speaking about the gingerbread swamp, Catherine Pritchard, who is the General Manager at Shrek’s Adventure!, said: “National Gingerbread Day is the perfect occasion to blend the whimsical world of Shrek with the delicious joy of gingerbread from the Muffin Man’s bakery.
“We’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure that this celebration is as memorable and magical as the world of Far Far Away itself and we are absolutely ‘ogre’ the moon with the final creation.”
You have until June 12 to head over to the South Bank’s Shreks Adventure! and see the gingerbread swamp for yourself. Book your spot here!
