To be, or not to be at The Globe’s open-air cinema next month, that is the question…
…and the answer is to make sure you bag yourself a ticket, because you won’t want to miss this! The Globe will transform into an open-air cinema next month, bringing us plenty of Shakespeare-inspired movies to enjoy with our household (or support bubble). This iconic venue is a lovingly-built replica of the original theatre where Shakespeare wrote many of his famous plays and is therefore the perfect backdrop for such an event.
Shakespeare on Screen is set to run from November 13 to 15 and will feature eight fan favourite films. Classics such as Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, West Side Story, Shakespeare in Love, Kiss Me Kate, and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet will be gracing the screen, as well as Gnomeo and Juliet and Disney’s answer to Hamlet – The Lion King. All screenings will be socially-distanced and you can opt to sit in the galleries or on the deckchairs outside. It wouldn’t be a terrible idea to bring a scarf or a blanket with you though, as summer is definitely long gone.

If live comedy is more your thing, you’re in luck! On November 12, a one-off performance from the legendary improv group Comedy Store Players will be taking place. This will be their 22nd year in a row performing at the venue, and as always there will be songs, sketches and their trademark improvised Shakespeare playlet. After the year we’ve had, I think we could all do with a laugh…
