Despite the heartache following England’s recent loss in the Euros, Selfridges are keeping the ball rollin’ with some more sports insanity thanks to this brill’ sports bar pop-up taking over one of their fabulous restaurants.
The athletic and lifestyle brand Champion have teamed up with the luxe department store for their beloved celebration of sport entitled Sportopia, which will not only bring this all-new sports bar to the heart of Oxford Street, but also, a custom-built, 40ft Climbing Column on Edwards Mews outside the London store.
Designed to compliment the iconic storefront and its instantly recognisable facade, the climbing column will be one of the many elements turning Selfridges into an immersive sporting destination throughout the rest of summer.
Scale up and down the column with some friends, before popping to the sports bar for a couple of drinks and some drool-worthy scran. Sportopia even corresponds with the Olympics this year, which recently added indoor sport climbing to their line-up during the Tokyo Games 2021, so no excuses peeps!
As for the sports bar, Champion have transformed Harry Gordon’s Bar and Kitchen into a space intended to take customers through a journey of sports history and clothing archives, bringing those all-American sports bar vibes to one of the most famous department stores in the world.
Showcasing the rich sporting heritage of Champion, expect exclusive vintage pieces from Champion’s New York Archives, which go as far back as 1940s and 1950s.
You’ll be able to witness all the major sporting events this summer, cheering on your favourite teams whilst chowing down on ‘US sports bar’ culinary classics. Think hotdogs, chicken wings, tacos, and beyond.
Open for customers to enjoy seven days a week, the Champion Sports Bar at Harry Gordon’s opens from 11.30am every day with food and drink served until 9pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 9.30pm on Friday, and 6pm on Sunday. To book a table, click here.
As for the climbing column, you have to book your spot so get to steppin’ (or should we say climbing?). Tickets cost £16.50 for adults and £12.50 for children. There is a discounted price for families of four, with the maximum amount of tickets per time slot being six.
However, there’s so much going on at Selfridges this summer. Sportopia transforms the department store into a sports venue like no other, with major-league brand collaborations that create immersive destinations in-store, fun and games on every floor.
