Yes, you read that correctly. Selfridges have opened their Christmas shop already – a short 145 days before the big day.
Oh here it is, Merry Christmas, everybody’s having fu– ck off. It’s AUGUST and we’re in the middle of a record-breaking HEATWAVE. They’ve got to be having us on…
Selfridges, the Oxford Street department store, has beaten everyone to the punch by launching their Christmas section four months early (!) – and it’ll be stocked with all the baubles and tinsel you could wish for. This crazy stunt is all because they reckon their festive decorations and souvenirs are incredibly popular with visitors from overseas, so they want to give them as much time as possible to bring them home for Christmas.
Although the shop is already open, the stock will peak in September, where nearly 4,000 items will hit the shelves. They’ll range from a £1.95 pencil (still pretty steep, IMO) to a range of neon signs for approximately £8,500. Ho ho NO.
For more seasonally appropriate shenanigans, head upstairs to check out their gorgeous rooftop restaurant – or down into the foodhall for a refreshing avocado gelato.
