Not long ago, we shared a round-up of some of the Secret London audience’s favourite restaurants to order a takeaway from, as part of our ongoing Doorstep Taste Tour in partnership with Deliveroo. After dining in on all of your fantastic recommendations, we thought we’d return the favour by feeding you some of our own. So here you have a list of the Secret London teams favourite restaurants to order from on Deliveroo, and even some suggestions of the very best dishes to try.
1. Beer + Burger Store
Beer+Burger stores smashed beef patties are something of a Deliveroo fan favourite in the Secret London office. When asking what everyone’s go-to order was, there was a clear winner: the cheese burger with candied maple bacon and a side of french fries with cheese and gravy.
2. Dishoom
When a curry night is on the cards, a lot of the Secret London team look to one place first and foremost. And like with all curry nights, the approach when ordering from Dishoom on Deliveroo is always the more, the merrier – but we all agreed that the ruby chicken and the black daal make the cut every time.
3. Taro
There are so many excellent Japanese restaurants to order from on Deliveroo in London, and one of our favourites is definitely Taro. The food is fresh, flavoursome, and super authentic – we personally believe there’s nothing in the world their Syoyu ramen can’t make better.
4. B Bagel Bakery
This place happens to be just round the corner from our office, and the queues it attracts daily are a testament to just how banging their bagels are. That’s why it’s even more satisfying having one brought directly to our front doors when we’re at home! At breakfast time, we’d be ordering their classic fried egg, cheese and turkey bacon number, but at lunch it’s hot salt beef all the way.
5. Bleecker Burger
It doesn’t feel like an exaggeration to say that Bleecker has accrued God Tier status on the London burger scene over the past few years. Like all of the best burger menus, theirs is simple, well thought out and perfectly executed and that’s why we love it. We especially love their house sauce, drizzled all over a crispy portion of fries next to a double cheeseburger and an oreo milkshake.
6. atis
Even the most reluctant healthy eaters would struggle not to find something on atis’ menu that they didn’t find to be absolutely delicious. From build-your-own bowls to house salads and hot meals, we’ve found it to be a fantastic option when we need something nourishing and super tasty, whatever time of day it is. The blackened chicken Seiz’a Caesar and the Green Goddess salad are honestly to die for!
7. Bone Daddies
Another of the Secret London team’s favourite restaurants to order from on Deliveroo when Japanese craving hits is Bone Daddies. If the words ‘wagyu brisket ramen’ don’t have you instantaneously opening the Deliveroo app then we don’t know what will. Oh, and remember to add some black pepper wings on the side.
8. Sacro Cuore
Pizzas differ so much from restaurant to restaurant, and everyone likes theirs slightly differently – so it’s always a good sign when you can find one that everyone agrees on. Sacro Cuore is always a crowd pleaser amongst our team, and it’s the Capricciosa (prosciutto, artichokes, olives, basil) and the Campagnola (courgettes, aubergines, basil, artichokes) that get ordered time and time again.
9. Speedboat Bar
Speedboat Bar’s menu is definitely more streamlined than a lot of other Thai restaurants, but you can rest assured every single dish on there packs a serious punch. Favourites among the Secret London team are the chicken skins with Zaep seasoning, minced beef with holy basil and roasted black pepper sea bream.
10. Patty & Bun
Offering chicken, lamb, veggie and a mouth watering variety of beef patties, Patty & Bun has a burger to satisfy every craving. But it seems a lot of people on our team seem to consistently crave one in particular, and that’s The Don. It’s two dry-aged beef patties topped with pancetta, beef butter, american cheese, onions and mayo, and it’s absolutely sensational.
11. Murger Han
Named after the ancient Chinese street food (thought to be the world’s oldest sandwich/burger!), Murger Han is a great option for any foodies who are experiencing a multitude of cravings. Stuffed between the home made flat bread (soft on the inside with a crunchy outer shell) you can have roasted duck, or 12 hour spicy beef or tender pork. Top tip: the addition of a fried egg really takes this to the next level.
12. White Men Can’t Jerk (Regional Restaurant of the Year in London Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024)
We were thrilled to see White Men Can’t Jerk awarded their Deliveroo Restaurant title – they’ve certainly fed many members of our team more times than we can count. Their menu is full of various iterations of their smoky, succulent jerk chicken, all of which deserve a mention. But our favourite has got to be the classic jerk chicken meal with coconut-y rice and peas, tangy coleslaw, jerk sauce and pineapple scotch bonnet jam.
13. Chisou
If sushi is your go-to on Deliveroo and you’ve not yet tried Chisou, then let this be a sign to you to make it a priority. Including all the classics (spicy tuna rolls, california rolls, etc.), Chisou also offers a number of other dishes that we simply don’t find on most Japanese menus. We’re talking yellow tail truffle sashimi, yellowtail, sea bass and sea bream uramaki, salmon and avocado wrapped in tuna and more…
14. The Good Earth
Now we go crazy for aromatic duck and crispy pancakes when ordering Chinese, but since discovering The Good Earth’s Mu Shu pork pancakes, the usual order of business has been changed. Alongside chicken and chive dumplings, Chui Yim ribs and some egg fried rice, you’ve got yourself a real winner.
15. Daddy Bao
There’s no two ways a-bao-t it, Daddy Bao does Taiwanese cuisine like none other. Whichever of their five baos you decide to order (we’d say just go the whole hog and try them all), their crispy fried chicken is the perfect side dish and really not to be missed.
