Saturday Night Live is something of an institution in the United States. So much so, in fact, that it’s one of those programmes you can’t quite picture having a UK version until it actually hits your screen.
And that moment is coming very soon, with the inaugural ‘SNL UK’ landing this weekend. Helping us visualise it a little more is the recent announcement of the first three hosts and musical acts taking centre stage, with Wet Leg and Tina Fey announced to appear in the debut episode.
Who are the artists and hosts on the first ‘SNL UK’?
Announcing the news on the Sky TV Instagram account yesterday (March 16), the names for the first-ever episodes were confirmed. The scheduling for these next three weeks is as follows:
- Saturday, March 21 – Tina Fey (host) / Wet Leg (music)
- Saturday, March 28 – Jamie Dornan / Wolf Alice
- Saturday, April 4 – Riz Ahmed / Kasabian
It comes after the show was first announced last month, with the full lineup of comedians set to take the stage as the debut cast for SNL’s UK iteration. As you can see, we can expect a similar format to the US show, made up of a host and musical guest each episode, and it’ll be on our screens for the next six weeks.
Each episode will broadcast live from London, running for 75 minutes and seeing the host, cast, and musical guest interact throughout the evening.
