If you happen to follow our good pals down in Bristol, you’ve probably heard of Sandwich Sandwich – the beloved sarnie shop that’s been putting soggy supermarket sandwiches to shame for over ten years.
We Londoners have been watching on begrudgingly for years, and now our prayers sulks have finally been answered. That’s right, folks: Sandwich Sandwich is officially bringing its drool-inducing sarnies to the capital city, and we are so (b)ready for them.
If you’ve never heard of Sandwich Sandwich, fear not: Secret London is here with the lowdown. Since opening back in 2012, the family-run business has made quite a name for itself in Bristol. Proudly serving up reasonably-priced, high quality, homemade, and utterly delicious sandwiches across their five sites, it’s pretty easy to see why Sandwich Sandwich has become such an icon on the Bristol lunch scene. It was even crowned UberEats’ Restaurant of the Year last year. So yes, it’s a pretty big deal.
On the menu
With a plethora of fillings to choose from (all of which are made using super fresh, locally sourced ingredients), there really is something for everyone. From hot pastrami and hoisin pulled pork to spicy vegan chicken and posh ham and cheese; each filling is jam-packed between two thick slices of either white, granary or caraway bread. They’ll also be serving up their legendary scotch eggs and some rather sensational-looking sweet treats. What’s not to love?
Commenting on the upcoming launch in London, owner Nicholas Kleiner said, “When we won the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year award, we said the investment would help our ambitions to grow, but we didn’t imagine it would be quite so soon. We cannot wait to open our doors in London and see the public’s reaction to our freshly made, locally sourced sandwiches and our famous sweet and savoury treats.”
It’s time for London to tuck in, as their shiny new London location opening today (July 18). And as soon as it’s open we recommend you rush over there quicker than you can say ‘sandwich’.
Sandwich Sandwich is open at 1 Gresham Street, EC2V 7BX from Thursday, July 18.
