Here in London, we really can’t resist a freebie, can we? Free food is pretty much the only thing guaranteed to stop us in our (ridiculously fast-paced) tracks. And what’s better than free food? Free noods. Luckily for us, Rosa’s Thai are giving away exactly that to celebrate World Pad Thai Day.
That’s right, there’s now officially an entire day dedicated to Thailand’s national dish; the humble (but oh-so Thai-sty) Pad Thai. November 7 is the day we’re talking about, and Rosa’s Thai, the beloved London restaurant group, are celebrating in style.
On November 7, diners at any Rosa’s restaurant will be given the chance to win themselves a delicious plate of Pad Thai, and all they have to do is roll a nine on the special dice. Traditionally thought of as lucky in Thailand, the number nine is believed to bring good fortune. Those lucky customers who roll a nine on November 7 will win a signature Pad Thai on the house.
Pad Thai is the most famous of all the Thai noodle dishes; it’s an ultimate crowd-pleaser. A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and completely delicious. Originally created by a patriarch politician during World War II as a cheaper alternative to rice, Pad Thai has been adapted over the years but has stood the test of time and continued to be a beloved dish in both Thailand and around the world.
There’s certainly a reason that Rosa’s sell around 11,000 Pad Thai’s every single week. And if that’s not worth celebrating, I don’t know what is.
All hail the mighty Pad Thai – and I reckon it tastes even better when it’s free.
