Rooftop Book Club. It’s like Rooftop Film Club, but with books. And they’re launching their first chat about the written word up in the clouds at Bussey Building in Peckham next month.
If you’re on the lookout for a natter about books, then you can join author and podcaster Beth McColl – who published How To Romanticise Your Life this year, her follow-up book to 2019’s How To Come Alive Again – to discuss Gillian Flynn’s iconic crime fiction novel, Gone Girl.
It’s the perfect way to relax on a late summer’s evening – pick up a glass of wine or a cold beer and meet like-minded people who love books as much as you do, and delve into the work of one of the most interesting modern crime writers around.
Of course, since this is Rooftop Film Club we’re talking about, the hour-long discussion of Gone Girl will then be followed up by a screening of the David Fincher film adaptation, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.
On top of her published work across multiple formats and sites, Beth McColl is also one of three co-hosts on the weekly culture podcast that is Everything Is Content, alongside Oenone Forbat and Ruchira Sharma. McColl will be leading the discussion on Gone Girl on September 4 to mark the first event of its kind at Rooftop Film Club.
Anyone hoping to attend the inaugural Rooftop Book Club at Bussey Building Peckham (find it at Roof B, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, SE15 4ST) can get their tickets here. The £32 tier in the list will ensure your spot in the conversation with Beth McColl, as well as a house drink, goody bag, and lounge seat to kick back and watch Gone Girl afterwards!
