Looking for a new way to enjoy much-loved blockbusters, or your personal favourite films? Let us bring your attention to Taste Film. This multi-sensory, eat-along experience provides intimate film screenings of some of the best movies from the last 40 years, with a three-course meal timed to key scenes. Yes, it is just as cool as it sounds. However, if that isn’t enough to sell you on the idea, here are our main five reasons to visit Taste Film in London.
1. The creativity – and amount – of food served
Taste Film’s whole MO is timed dishes served during movies. At this immersive experience in London, you get a three-course meal – and let me tell you, the servings surprised us. We left our film screening with both our hearts and stomachs full: the portions were the perfect size. The creativity of the dishes was also impressive; the chefs have put a lot of thought into the menu, and haven’t just banked on the most obvious choice of dishes. Vegan and gluten-free options are available too.
Although served separately from the meal (served as you arrive), I have to give a special shout-out to the popcorn, as it was just so moreish. If we weren’t attending an eat-along, we’d have happily eaten this all film long.
2. The variety of movie genres
Whether you’re a Disney fan, or fancy watching a cult classic, chances are Taste Film will give your fave film their foodie treatment at some point. This year alone, the films showing in London have included The Princess and The Frog, Twilight, Clueless, Romeo & Juliet, Monsters Inc, and many more. Be sure to keep an eye out for their fresh releases, as often, they book up FAST (the Ratatouille screenings sold out in less than a day!)
3. The atmosphere of the venue
Forget a darkly lit cinema where you’re shot disapproving looks for rustling your bag: Taste Film takes over chilled, laid-back venues that pride themselves on being welcoming and super comfy. The Secret London team visited Parlour in Kensal Green for a screening, which boasted comfy booth seating and such a relaxed atmosphere: this is most definitely the way to enjoy a good movie.
4. The themed cocktails
Your ticket to Taste Film includes one themed cocktail, served partway through your film screening, plus a plethora of additional cocktails available to purchase. As with everything you devour during this screening, the theme of the cocktail is totally on point and well-timed. On Secret London’s visit, the cocktail was interactive – you decantered a ‘blood bag’ into a glass during Twilight. A non-alcoholic option is available too.
5. It is suitable for mates or dates
To round off our reasons to visit Taste Film: it’s a great option whether you’re after a fun few hours for a date or a cute outing with a mate. It’s like going to the cinema, but better. Where else could you get table service throughout a film; a choice of much-loved blockbusters; and can discuss more than the plotline once the credits roll? Also, Taste Film offers some family-friendly screenings, welcoming guests aged 5+ – be sure to check the specific film’s Ts & Cs before booking.
