BAFTA award-winner, Ralph Fiennes and Olivier award-winner, Indira Varma play opposite each other as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in this fresh and exciting adaptation of one of William Shakespeare’s most distinguished tragedies, ‘Macbeth‘.
The production opened in Liverpool in November before heading to Edinburgh last month. But it is finally making its way to the capital city as their longest stint will begin here in London next week (February 11).
The award-winning pair reunited with director, Simon Godwin, for the play after all three worked together on the critically acclaimed Man and Superman at the National Theatre back in 2015. Since then Fiennes says he has “longed to work with Indira Varma and Simon Godwin again”. It seems that his wish was Godwin’s command as the trio reunited for the tour that started in Liverpool back in November.
With set design by Frankie Bradshaw and an adaptation by Emily Burns, this production has decided against traditional theatre staging and instead, four site-specific warehouses in four iconic cities have been transformed to become the setting for this production.
Macbeth will play in London until March 30 when it will then head across the pond to play a season in Washington, D.C (April 2 – April 28, 2024).
Macbeth will play at Dock X London. Find out more and book your tickets here.
