Unorthodox is the UK’s first queer Drum and Bass movement, created to ‘push the boundaries of underground dance music and bring cultures together‘.
This Friday June 3 – part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday – they’re teaming up with legendary transgender DJ and Producer Mandidextrous to bring you an evening of ground-breaking music and epic beats.
This will be both Unorthodoxs’ and Mandidextrous’ biggest show to date, and they passionately believe that “it’s time to shake things up in the D&B scene and provide a safe and inclusive place for everyone on the gender spectrum, so that they can feel equal and accepted, and to prove that there is space for us not only on the dance floor but also in the wider industry too“.
Joining them on the bill at the iconic Village Underground club will be the Dutch DJ IMANU, the legendary Trance and Base producer John B and the award-winning Scottish DJ, Mrs Magoo. Add in Chickaboo – the first ever woman to MC over Drum and Base – Maddy V and electrifying drag MC Bennitrate as hosts and you’ve got yourself one hell of a night to remember.
Plus, on top of this immense line up, the full family of Unorthodox queens and performers will bring the show to life alongside an immersive production experience – so strap yourself in! The night begins at 10pm and you’ll be able to party right into the wee hours as the doors won’t close until 5am. Good job the pubs are open until 1am then…
