Social media

Your chance to become the Ultimate Influencer.

Yes, it could quite possibly be your dream job, and no, it’s not a prank. Her Majesty would like a social media manager to support her burgeoning side career as Instagram influencer, and if you’ve got two thumbs and a strong knowledge of hashtags, you could be the dream candidate.

A listing for a ‘Digital Communications Officer’ went up on the Royal Household’s website recently, inviting candidates who can find “new ways to maintain The Queen’s presence in the public eye and on the world stage” – i.e. with a cheeky selfie. Rather dauntingly, the first line says “your content will be viewed by millions”, so woe betide the person who accidentally switches profile to the Royal Family account on a drunken hen do…

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, have experience of managing websites, be innovative, a talented photographer, and a natural communicator. I mean, you can blag most of that, can’t you? Should you actually get the job, you can look forward to a £30,000 salary, 33 days annual leave, free lunches, a decent pension scheme, an office in Buckingham Palace, and what I’m envisaging are some gold-plated “thank you” presents at Christmas.

I’d expect this one to be a touch competitive, so you’ll probably want to bring your A-game when putting yourself forward. Applications are open until May 26th, and you can submit yours here. Best of luck!
