We’re so game for this… 🎮
Calling all food, football, cocktail, beer and video game lovers (so everyone, essentially)! Ever struggled to make the huge decision between a Friday night out filled with cocktails and fun, or a night in spent gaming, eating and chilling? Well now you don’t have to…
Platform is London’s newest and coolest gaming bar, which is all about good vibes, delicious cocktails and pure, unadulterated video game fun! The team at Platform are smashing outdated gaming stereotypes and offering the best nights of cocktails and controllers, exclusively for Secret London readers!
This new space in Shoreditch only opened earlier this year, and is a totally unique place. Platform provides fun through video games for everyone – not just your typical ‘gamers’ (though they are, of course, still welcome)!
Platform is a space for gaming, but equally a bar simply made for a great night out in the coolest area in the capital. Expect delicious cocktails, delicious food and some really eye-opening events – and we’ve not even got to the actual gaming yet…
Take a seat in one of their multiplayer booths, where you and your pals can play the best games on the latest consoles, on huge screens! Expect all of your old favourites, from Mario Kart, Mario Party and Mario Tennis to Just Dance and, of course, Fifa! There is also a Retro Arcade for all the classic SNES you can shake a stick at, with a custom-built esports stage for those all-important Fortnite face-offs.
Select any two cocktails from the menu, and one of the Game Gurus (who are dedicated to individual booths) will bring them straight to your spot.
They will also be happy to help with all of your gaming needs – whether it’s setting up, levelling up your moves or just showing you the ropes!
Your Gurus will also be on hand to deliver high quality, Italian-made, wood-fired pizzas straight to your booth – as well as any drinks to fuel your feud against frenemies.
When you’re done in your booth, why not try out their racing simulators, or go old school on the Classic Super Nintendo!
As well as welcoming both beginners and expert players, Platform aims to break some of the gaming industry’s negative cultural biases such as homophobia, misogyny and racism through their special events, such as The Gender Game: Educational Game Jam. Their bar is set to be a new safe, inclusive space in Shoreditch, promoting the positive, social aspect of modern gaming.
They also run a huge range of other events, showcasing the most interesting aspects of video games. From girls’ nights, to coding events and industry talks – there’s more to gaming than FIFA!
