While London is full to the brim with exciting, new, and social-media-dominating restaurants, the reality is that it’s quite expensive to eat out in the city! Sure, there are plenty of affordable restaurants in our capital, but sometimes we want a taste of luxury. Unfortunately, our budgets and bank accounts ensure that these restaurants are saved for special occasions or once-in-a-blue-moon visits. Until now, that is, because the Plated food festival has just kicked off in the city, and you’re in to taste some of the city’s fanciest restaurants for a fraction of the cost.
The Plated food festival is taking over venues around King’s Road and Knightsbridge from August 1-31. It’s bringing together “more than 30 restaurants, bars and hotels… for a month of exclusive menus, festival-only dishes, chef collaborations, complimentary cocktails and one-off dining experiences”.
Plated deals and specials
The participating venues include Hawksmoor Knightsbridge, Azzurra, Harvey Nichols, Harry’s Dolce Vita, CLAP London, The Cadogan Arms, and many more.
With more than 30 participating venues, you can easily go to a different spot every day this August and still not try out all of the unique offerings. So I’ve scoured the deals and come up with a handful of choices that stand out from the rest:
- The Pig’s Ear: Steak Tartare or Half Lobster, with crispy fries and a glass of Sussex Reserve from Nutbourne Vineyards for £25. (weekdays for lunch and dinner)
- Rabbit: Steak Tartare or Half Lobster, with crispy fries and a glass of Sussex Reserve from Nutbourne Vineyards for £25. (weekdays for lunch and dinner)
- Willet’s at The Cadogan: £1 sausage rolls, £1 oysters, £6 pints of Willett’s lager, and £8 signature cocktails. (every day 6-7pm)
- The Chalk: signature dish of Beef Fat Choux Wellington for two available to preorder.
- Ixchel: two-course lunch with a complimentary dessert for £28. (weekday lunch)
- Hawksmoor: 2-course set menu for £25, or 3 courses for £30, with a complimentary drink on arrival.
