This Spring the adventures of a certain blue-jacketed bunny won’t just exist in the pages of Beatrix Potter’s books, instead, they’ve become an interactive reality with The Peter Rabbit™ Easter Adventure. Unfolding among the charming bustle of Covent Garden market from March 22 to April 16, you can treat the kids to an unforgettable Easter holiday by helping Beatrix Potter save Jemima Puddleduck from the clutches of bearded grump Mr McGregor. How many kids can go back to school and say they saved the day with Peter Rabbit?
Brought to life through a magical mix of storytelling, live performances and fantastic puppetry, the 50-minute experience is fun for all the family. You’ll not only get to meet the likes of Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs Tiggy Winkle and cousin Benjamin Bunny, but there are also plenty of creative activities, a jam-packed gift shop, photo opportunities and even a cafe where you can refuel with a drink and some tasty treats.
With its centuries-old history as London’s largest market, Covent Garden is the perfect setting to transport you back to the era of Beatrix Potter’s wondrous writing. In the early 20th century the building would have been alive with energy, filled with bellowing calls of traders and the fresh aromas of fruit and vegetables. You’ll be able to follow in the footsteps of many curious kids who weaved between the stalls back then as you use secret notes, maps and other clues to track down a certain white duck wearing a pink shawl and bonnet (that will narrow it down – you don’t see many dressed-up ducks waddling around the city).
When you and the children fancy a break from the quest you can retreat to the sanctum of the indoor activity area. There, kids can unleash their creative side with colouring in, dot to dot and ‘find Peter’. It is located in the Easter Adventure Shop, so just beware that you might get distracted by the assortment of books, adorable children’s toys and Peter Rabbit-themed goodies on the way.
On the other hand, if your kid seems to have a relentless pit of energy and you’re after something slightly more active to burn some of it off; then why not let them get behind the wheel of a mini-rover for their very first driving lesson? All perfectly safe of course, let’s just hope they’re not a mini Mr McGregor in the making.
Whether it’s a fond trip down memory lane for adults or a chance to step into a recently-read story for the little ones, this adventure ticks all the boxes for a great family day out. It already proved a hit last summer, when the Peter Rabbit™ Garden Adventure at Blenheim Palace earned rave 5-star reviews, and now it’s come to the city with a whole new mission and activities to get stuck in to. Make sure to grab your tickets while you can cause they’ll no doubt be disappearing faster than the white flash of a rabbit’s tail.
