If you like wine and you love Peaky Blinders then your dreams may just have come true!
The unbeatable Peaky Blinders series has had viewers on the edge of their seats for a whole five seasons thus far but, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, filming has slowed and fans are itching to watch another series. Whilst we might have a wait on our hands for the new series, tasting the authentic Peaky Blinders wine as seen on-screen will soon be possible for a few thousand lucky fans.
In Vignonet, down in southwest France, the Bardet family – who produce the delicious Saint-Émilion wines – have signed a contract with the BBC to recreate 78,000 bottles of official Peaky Blinders wine. The Bardets have already produced a Game of Thrones-stamped wine in 2018 (the “Dornish Wine”) and they will produce the red Peaky Blinders wine using an old-fashioned method, with vintage concrete vats.
In producing this Peaky Blinders red, Thibaut Bardet aims to pay tribute to his great-grandfather and to the old method of making wine. He is himself a fan of the series and brought the idea of producing a Peaky Blinders wine to the BBC, who loved it. Thus, the bottles will wear a label with the official seal of the series: ‘Bottled by the Shelby Company Limited’, as on TV. You can order it on the Vignobles Bardet store online.
