Somehow, in a city of nine million people, it took until the year 2022 AD for someone to deliver the lightning bolt idea of a pasta festival in London. Given how popular last year’s event was, it was destined to return. And return it has, with the announcement that Emilia’s Summer Pasta Festival will touch down in Canary Wharf on July 16. And they’re bringing an ever bigger celebration than before.
It’s a full day of food. A full day of pasta. And it’s a full day of zero complaints. Because you’re surrounded by pasta! Simple enough to understand, sure, but that won’t make it any less of a delicious thrill.
Emilia’s Crafted Pasta’s Canary Wharf branch will transform their restaurant, terrace, and surrounding greenery and park areas for the celebration. Guests can expect a street-food style festival filled with live music, pasta-themed masterclasses, activitries to keep the kids entertained, and even pasta art exhibitions. Oh, and naturally, plenty of pasta to chow down on.
Entry is completely free, with kitchen and bar staff on hand to provide a sumptuous “pasta picnic”.
Because this is a festival we are talking about, there will, of course, be a headliner. Hip Hop and Soul artist, and X Factor Italy finalist, Davide Shorty will return to head up the occasion. He’ll also be joined by other live music acts, and DJ sets throughout the day.
Pasta Festival Activities
Pasta novices can not only walk home with full bellies, but with a newfound knowledge of the art of pasta cookery. In the masterclasses, you can learn to make it from scratch, as you’re guided through the pasta-making process. Or, you could even opt to learn how to make pesto by hand.
To top it off, Emilia’s Crafted Pasta have Boutinot Wines as a partner, from whom revellers can learn all about pairing pasta with wine. You’ll also find out how to match pasta shapes to the right pasta sauce – a trickier affair than you may think! (Masterclasses are free, but you’ll need to book your space here).
London’s first pasta festival takes place at 12 George Street, Wood Wharf, E14 9QG on July 16 between 12pm – 7pm. Read about Emilia’s Crafted Pasta here. Head to their socials to grab your free ticket for entry to the festival.
