Have you ever been told not to do your food shop when hungry, because you’ll buy things you don’t need? Well, at Neyba, that’ll never be an issue…
This brand-new concept combines a multi-cuisine kitchen, headed up by both Michelin-starred and celebrity chefs, with a fast grocery store. Effectively, you can grab your loaf of bread and carton of milk, as you sit down for cocktails and a curry. Strange? Maybe. Convenient? Most definitely. Neyba (pronounced “neighbour”) is the brainchild of Burger & Lobster founder Misha Zelman and Ben Hedley, who has previously worked for Harrods and Heston Blumenthal. They launched this Notting Hill restaurant and grocers as a way to help time-poor Londoners eat great food.
The collaborative menu features the dishes of various businesses, including Indian curries from Tony Singh MBE, pizzas from Miguel Barclay, and Japanese dishes from Yoko Nakada (founder of recipe box Makes Miso Hungry). There is also a bonus dish, available for takeaway and delivery only, from world-renowned sushi master Endo Kazotushi. Despite the calibre of chefs, the team aim for a very relaxed feel here. You’ll eat your meals out of disposable, compostable containers – perfect to grab and go if you’ve got a train to catch. To accompany your meal – for which the finest quality ingredients are used to create – Neyba has a great selection of drinks on offer, including wine, champagne, Moth cocktails, Big Smoke Brewery beers, and soft drinks.
As for the grocery aspect, well, it follows suit. Only the highest quality store-cupboard, fridge, butchery, and seafood products are available. You’ll be able to cook just like a Michelin-starred chef upon your return home! Well, you’ll have similar ingredients at least; whether the skills are there is another question…
If you are too busy to pop down to experience Neyba yourself, fear not. The restaurant-grocer has partnered with Deliveroo, so the variety of cuisines and ingredients can be delivered straight to your door if you live in the local area. There is even a weekly essentials box available to make your life all the more easier. Talk about your friendly, ‘neybahood’ green grocers, eh!
