Where will you be when the clock strikes 12 this New Year’s Eve? Dancing in a club? Locking lips with your loved one at a rooftop bar? Or perhaps, still unsure? If you haven’t quite made your mind up yet, fear not, we’re here to send you to the ball, Cinderellas and Cinderfellas. There are ample events going on for New Year’s Eve 2022 in London, all though the day and night, so you can celebrate from New Years Eve morning and well into January 1, 2023.
1–6. Enjoy day time activities
While many spots shut up shop on New Year’s Eve, there are still a few activities in London that welcome revellers throughout the last day of 2022. Start as you mean to go on and experience something new, or check out a firm favourite.
☀️ Step right into the painted world of Van Gogh at the dedicated exhibition near Liverpool Street. Floor-to-ceiling projections and interactive displays await.
☀️ Grab a drink and a bite to eat in the steam punk-esque immersive world of Phantom Peak: Wintermas, located in Canada Water. You can also get competitive with fun carnival games, and uncover secrets hidden by the townsfolk on 12 new trails…
☀️ Relive the iconic Back to the Future franchise at Camden‘s dedicated Back In Time exhibition. At this 80s revival, you can see over 70 pieces from the original sets, get close to the DeLorean, and opt for a photo with the hoverboard.
☀️ Discover Salvador Dali’s works like never before at Dali Cybernetics. The exhibition, based on Brick Lane, is unlike any other: you can actually step into the Dali ‘metaverse’, where you can move freely through the surreal space as an avatar, engaging freely with others and your surroundings.
☀️ Enjoy a medley of operatic tunes at a special show from the Merry Opera Company. Taking place at St Martin-in-the-Fields, the performers will lead two hours of revelry – including some sing-along tunes, like Auld Lang Syne.
☀️ Christmas may be over, but the mesmerising Christmas at Kenwood will still be shining bright on New Year’s Eve. After the sun sets – which is literally mid afternoon these days – amble down the two-kilometre path, admiring gorgeous light installations and impressive audio-visual set ups.

19–21. Set sail on the Thames (and maybe see the London fireworks) this New Year’s Eve
Want to admire the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Central London, but missed out on tickets? Take to the Thames instead! There are a selection of New Year’s Eve 2022 boat parties in London taking place.
🚢 Enjoy dinner and a cruise along the Thames, and usher in 2023 from the water. The experience will start with a welcome drink and three-course dinner at Balls Brothers, before heading to Tower Millennium Pier to set sail at 9.30pm. You’ll sail down the Thames until 1.15am, meaning you’ll be in prime position for the midnight fireworks – a glass of bubbly will provided at this time too.
🚢 If you fancy light bites instead of a full-on three-course meal, opt for the Jewel of London Thames boat cruise instead. Across five hours, you can enjoy a light buffet, unlimited beer, wine and prosecco by the glass, single spirits and mixers, and soft drinks as a live DJ plays the best tunes. The boat is heated and boasts large viewing windows, plus two outdoor viewing decks, putting you in prime position for the fireworks.
🚢 The Monsoon Clipper will set sail from London Bridge City Pier at 9pm for an evening of live music, lovely London views, and champers come midnight. You’ll be able to admire the illuminated city for four and a half hours – and of course, that illuminated sky!
22. Laugh your way into 2023 at a special New Year’s Eve comedy night
Infernos Clapham‘s New Year’s Eve comedy night will provide a laugh a minute next weekend. Taking place between 8pm–10pm, comedians will take a look back at the year, plus life in general, with four stand up sets. The evening doesn’t stop once the laughs stop though; you can join the after party until 4am.
