Ready to hibernate a little this September after an epic summer? You’re in luck, because Netflix has an incredible month of new content in store for us. From the return of some of the streaming service’s landmark shows to the addition of new star-studded original films, here’s everything new to Netflix UK this September.
Love in the Villa, September 1
A little bit different to the villa romance on Love Island, this Netflix Original film is about a young woman (Kat Graham) taking a trip to romantic Verona, Italy, after a break up, only to find that the villa she reserved was double-booked… Instead of booking elsewhere, she’ll have to share her vacation with a cynical and very good-looking British man (Tom Hopper). Watch it from September 1st.
Chef’s Table: Pizza, September 7
London is brimming with pizza joints but if you fancy getting another slice of the action (on screen that is- but pizza in hand is optional) then this latest Netflix release will have you drooling. The long-running culinary hit returns with a season that’s all about the pizza pie. From Portland to Phoenix, Italy to Japan, go inside the kitchens of chefs whose creativity elevates this ordinary dish to an art form via their unique flavours, inspiring backgrounds, and passion for creating the perfect slice. Stream it from September 7th.
End of the Road, September 9
In this high-octane action thriller, a cross-country road trip becomes a highway to hell for Brenda (Queen Latifah), her two kids and her brother Reggie (Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges). After witnessing a brutal murder, the family finds themselves in the crosshairs of a mysterious killer. Now alone in the New Mexico desert and cut off from any help, Brenda is pulled into a deadly fight to keep her family alive. Watch it on September 9th.
Cobra Kai (S5), September 9
Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help. Watch it from September 9th.
Do Revenge, September 16
Riverdale‘s Camila Mendes plays Drea, who is at the peak of her high school powers as the Alpha it-girl on campus when her entire life goes up in flames after her sex tape gets leaked to the whole school, seemingly by her boyfriend and king of the school, Max (Austin Abrams). Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke plays Eleanor, an awkward new transfer student who is angered to find out that she now has to go to school with her old bully, Carissa (Ava Capri) who started a nasty rumour about her in summer camp when they were 13. After a clandestine run-in at tennis camp, Drea and Eleanor form an unlikely and secret friendship to get revenge on each other’s tormentors. Watch it from September 16th.
Drifting Home, September 16
Studio Colorido has received worldwide acclaim as an animation studio and now it returns to Netflix with highly-anticipated third anime feature film, Drifting Home. The anime film is a summer adventure that begins when sixth-graders and childhood friends Kosuke and Natsume playing with their classmates Yuzuru, Taishi, Reina and Juri in an apartment complex that is scheduled to be demolished. They are caught up in a mysterious phenomenon, and when they regain consciousness, they see nothing but a vast sea before them. Watch it on September 16th.
Thai Cave Rescue, September 22
Inspired by the incredible news that captivated the world, Thai Cave Rescue tells the untold stories of the Thai youth football team and their coach who got trapped in one of the most dangerous cave systems on Earth. The limited Netflix series shows the extraordinary efforts by their families, the people of Thailand, and volunteers from all over the world as they work together to fight against both nature and time to save the team. Watch it from September 22nd.
Lou, September 23
Thinking she’d put her dangerous past behind her, Lou (Allison Janney) finds her quiet life interrupted when a desperate mother (Jurnee Smollett) begs her to save her kidnapped daughter. As a massive storm rages, the two women risk their lives on a rescue mission that will test their limits and expose dark and shocking secrets from their pasts. Stream it from September 23rd.
Blonde, September 28
Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.
