Science Gallery London opens in September – but we’ve got a sneaky look inside…
There are already plenty of ways to get your intellectual fix in London, but we’re always delighted to see another one arrive. This September, London is getting a brand new science gallery, and it’s called… Science Gallery London. Hmmm. They’re scientists, not writers, alright? Anyway, the name isn’t as important as what’s inside – and what’s inside is the small matter of a whole new way to think about science and the world around us.
You see, Science Gallery London is quite unlike anything else we have in the UK. In essence, this place is part science museum, part art gallery, all in the pursuit of inspiring new ways of thinking about global issues. Artists have been employed to make scientific issues more accessible and engaging, by creating innovative installations and displays. It’s being launched in partnership with Kings College London, who’ll bring the science. The artists provide the pizzazz, and you just need to bring a healthy dose of curiosity.
You don’t even need to bring money, because Science Gallery London is happily free to attend. They throw open the doors on September 21st, and you’ll find it on a plum site right next to The Shard. First up is an exhibit called HOOKED, which will explore the science behind addiction, whether that be to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, or social media. Definitely one to get excited about. In the immortal words of Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Pinkman: “yeah, science!”
