A riot of colour awaits you in these gorgeous tulip fields.
Wanderlust feels more like a curse than a blessing right now, but thankfully there are virtual highlights to whet your travel appetite. If you’ve already explored the ancient city of Petra, or marvelled at the Northern Lights, you can now see the full bloom of spring with a little online excursion to the Keukenhof Flower Exhibit in The Netherlands. What you’ll get is an eye-opening splash of colour, with some 7 million flowers now in bloom. 800 varieties of tulip were planted for the 2020 show, but with the coronavirus outbreak putting the skids on mass gathering, organisers took an early decision to take the show online. The result is a series of stunning videos – hosted on Keukenhof’s YouTube channel – which wander lazily through the nodding flowers and fill the heart with joy.
Keukenhof’s gardeners appear in many of the videos, taking you little tours of their favourite areas, and picking out displays they’re especially fond of. They’ve maintained a lovely trend of adding a new video every couple of days, so by the time you’ve worked your way through the already-released ones (twelve at the time of writing), you’ll probably have a few more to dive into. It’s wholesome stuff, so don’t underestimate the power of the flowers…
