Well, folks, we’ve done it again. After scouring the pizzerias of Europe, the pizza-maestros over at 50 Top Pizza have announced that London is home to the best pizza in all of Europe. Besides Italy, because… of course. At an award ceremony in Madrid, the list of Europe’s best pizzerias was revealed, and none other than the vaunted Napoli on the Road has taken the top spot, for the second year in a row.
Napoli on the Road is no stranger to pizza awards. Back in 2023, founder and head chef, Michele Pascarella, was awarded the coveted Global Pizza Maker of the Year 2023. Then, in the 2024 awards, the restaurant rose to the top of the crop when it was recognised as the Best Pizzeria in Europe. It then subsequently came 5th in a list of the Best Pizzerias in the World.
As if that wasn’t enough, this year Napoli on the Road also took home the award for ‘Best Pizza’ for its Ricordi d’Infanzia. Blending old and new traditions, the pizza features slow-cooked ragu with beef, and is topped with Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, fondue, and basil. Well, I guess you know what to order when you visit!
Napoli on the Road
With almost a decade of experience under his belt, Pascarella has built Napoli on the Road up from a “three-wheeled Ape Piaggio van with a wood-fired oven” to restaurants in Richmond and Chiswick. And once you’ve tried his ‘zas, you’ll understand the hype. The pizzas hew traditional Neapolitan, with a “meticulous attention to the dough and… a careful balance of traditional and modern toppings”.
“Winning for a second year means more than I can say,” says Michele. “This award belongs to the entire team, who share my commitment and passion every day. Taking first place at the 50 Top Pizza Europa in 2024 changed my life and it’s an honour to receive this recognition once again.”
The best pizzerias in Europe
Joining Napoli on the Road in the top 5 were restaurants from Madrid, Barcelona, Vienna, London, and Puteaaux, France. (Yes, that’s more than five places, but there was a tie for third place.)
In total, London claimed three of the top 50 spots on the list. The restaurants that made the cut were Napoli on the Road (#1), 50 Kalò (#4), and L’Antica Pizzeria (25). A couple of other pizzerias from England also made it onto the top 50 list. These were Stile Napoletano in Chester (#13) and Buon Appetito in Burgess Hill (#31).

- nNea – Amsterdam, The Netherlands
- Fratelli Figurato – Madrid, Spain
- Sapori Italiani U Taliana – Bratislava, Slovakia
- Forno d’Oro – Lisbon, Portugal
The top 20 ranked pizzerias on the list are automatically placed into the list of 100 Best Pizzerias in the World. But we won’t find out where they are on the list until September 8, during the Top Pizza World 2025 awards ceremony in Naples.
