Mondo Sando are taking their famed subs to a proper Peckham pub as part of a new permanent residency, and they’re bringing outrageous Sunday roasts with them. Taking their wares and fares to Peckham’s White Horse, Mondo Sando will be cooking up their namesake sando’s and an ever-changing menu of small plates, burgers, and roasts. Everything they serve will be full of their tongue in cheek sense of humour and massive whacks of flavour.
The food
Don’t miss their Chicken Tikka Masala sandwich (named the CTM MATE, pictured above), or their Burguez Merger with a flame-kissed lamb & beef merguez patty. For veggies there’s a fresh and filthy vegan Thai larb stuffed into a sandwich, and even a deep-fried aubergine parm sandwich. And if the sandwich behemoths aren’t enough to fill you (or if you’re sensibly sharing them), sides include grilled courgette, Mexican fries, and the absolutely culinarily mad invention that is larb gabagool salad. We can hear the Italian and Thai people shaking their fists in fury from here.
To cap it all off, obviously dessert from sandwich makers could be nothing else but ice cream sandwiches. There’s banana split or vegan choc chip to choose from. Just get both, you’ve already eaten three days worth of food at that point anyway.
And on Sundays? Well, to paraphrase Brian Butterfield, “Sunday is roast day”. And these aren’t any bog-standard roasts, not from the people behind such flavour packed creations. Sunday roasts will add Mondo Sando twists, such as the North African stuffed & rolled lamb shoulder with crispy fennel seed roasties & miso hispi cabbage. After a vegan option? Check out the vegan braised mushroom hand-pie in flaky pastry with beetroot & horseradish.
The pub
The White Horse is a proper South East London boozer. They’ve got dedicated locals, a brilliant beer garden, and packed vibey weekends. Oh, and a pool table – which the Mondo Sando team have already threatened to take over. But you’ll be too busy trying to unhinge your jaw to fit the sandwiches to worry anyway.
Mondo Sando’s residency at the The White Horse marks the sandwich makers’ second location, alongside their residency at Camberwell’s Grove House Tavern. At their Grove House Tavern location there’s a different menu for lunch and dinner. At The White Horse, however, Mondo Sando will be offering up the one packed menu of hits all day.
Keen to get booked in? Head straight to the booking link to secure a spot for those dreamy and outrageous Sunday roasts! But we’re pretty sure you’ll be able to secure a table just by rocking up on the day.
