Don’t pack away your sunglasses just yet, as temperatures will soar in Britain this week thanks to a September heatwave.
Autumn is just around the corner, but it looks like we’ll have one more burst of summer this week – and after a dreary week or so, this is the news we’ve all been waiting for. The major UK weather sites are in agreement that the British weather will rival tourist hotspots in Spain by mid-week, with the thermometer potentially climbing as high as 29°C in a nifty September heatwave. There really is no place like home!
Balmy temperatures, piercing sunshine and humid nights are all on the cards for the next few days. Things get started tomorrow (Sunday, September 5) with the mercury rising to 25°C, per BBC Weather and Apple Weather. By Monday, we’ll be experiencing highs of 27°C, before Tuesday and Wednesday deliver the coup de grace with 28°C heat, with Wednesday earmarked as the day we might nudge 29°C.
After that, the wonderful weather will tail off slightly, but we’re still looking at 20°C plus in London until next weekend at least (and potentially beyond), so have your suncream at the ready! These are unusually high temperatures for September, but since it’s likely the last glimpse of summer we’ll see until 2022, we’re all ready to make the most of it.
