The Royal Mint have been in the habit of releasing cool coins for a while. And, for some (many), there really is nothing cooler than Star Wars.
So they’ve gone and made a coin of the ship flown by the guy who plenty would argue is the coolest character in the franchise, which is pretty… cool. Han Solo’s trusty Millennium Falcon is the latest legendary design made for The Royal Mint, and you’ll be able to get your hands on one very soon.
Plus, if any of the coins had to represent the multi-layered Millennium Falcon ship, it would quite obviously be the 50p, so that’s exactly where The Royal Mint have gone and placed the design on. It comes alongside further Star Wars designs also due for release in 2024, which will be equally enticing for super fans as they celebrate the vehicles used in the beloved series of films. These are set to include Death Star II, X-Wing, and TIE Fighter.
These designs come after The Royal Mint released a set of coins in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Return Of The Jedi, and featured iconic characters including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Han Solo’s trusty companion: Chewbacca.
Millennium Falcon coins purchased will feature the classic design of the ship on the ‘tails’ side, with the uniform King Charles III taking up the ‘heads’ slot seen on new coins. Whipping this out when tossing a coin is sure to provide a healthy amount of luck for the coin flipper; with the bravery of Han Solo and Chewy powering up behind them. Good luck to anyone having to face that.
