It’s finally that time of year where you can indulge in some Christmassy classics without getting any funny looks and Luna Winter Cinema are here to deliver the festive goods. Sink into comfy deck chairs and watch as Will Ferrell’s oversized elf navigates the streets of New York in lemon-yellow tights, reluctant hero John McClane grumbles his way through tiny air vents, and Cameron Diaz falls hard for Jude Law in the idyllic, snow-dusted Cotswolds.
Luna Cinema are known for their summer open-air screenings but this December they are heading inside; keeping things cosy in the regal settings of Kensington Palace and Battersea Arts Centre. They have a number of screenings scheduled in each venue – often with up to three showings each day – ranging from child-friendly animated flicks to witty rom-coms and old-school classics.
Kensington Palace (December 13 – 23)
Battersea Arts Centre (December 13 – 24)
With its marble stairs, gothic corridors and stylishly distressed walls Battersea Arts Centre makes for a mesmerising setting to lose yourself in film. Take a seat under the timber grid ceiling of the Grand Hall this December and you can be treated to a variety of seasonal stories. Luna Winter Cinema will put on the same collection of films as with Kensington Palace: showings on the agenda include Last Christmas, The Gruffalo, The Holiday and Muppet Christmas Carol. If your stomach grumbles you can tuck into some delicious hot food from their gourmet partner and keep cosy clutching a glass of mulled wine. Grab tickets here.
