In a city like London, one of the purest joys is finding something free to do. With prices going up across the board (and salaries hardly matching the increase) it’s more important than ever to find ways to enjoy this city without spending a cent. So if you’re looking for free entertainment this summer, be sure to head over to Waterloo, where a free outdoor cinema will take over one of London’s oldest market streets as part of the ‘Lower Marsh Lates’.
The free open-air screenings will take place across three sessions through the summer, on the last Thursday of each month in June, July, and August. And they’re treating money-saving cinema-goers to some proper nostalgic favourites.
What’s on at the Lower Marsh Lates?
The free films will range across a variety of 90s classics. Beneath the evening sky, at Waterloo’s Lower Marsh, the series of screenings will include:
- Cool Runnings – June 25
- Romeo + Juliet – July 30
- Mrs Doubtfire – August 27
Alongside the movies will be a variety of street food options and live entertainment. The food will range across the likes of Indian curries, Mexican burritos, and Turkish flatbreads. And if you need something sweet to snack on, you’ll also find a variety of baked goods, treats, and popcorn.

Local businesses and cafes are also getting in on the action, with plenty of deals and discounts to enjoy during the screenings.
There are also rewards and prizes up for grabs, for those of you who dress up for the cinema screening! Why not slather your face in cream frosting, wrap yourself up in a dressing gown, and settle in for the Mrs Doubtfire screening?
So be sure to get on down to Waterloo this summer for some delightfully nostalgic evenings. “Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it’s bobsled free cinema time!”
