Have you ever wondered what the animals at the zoo get up to after closing time? Well, now’s your chance to find out as London Zoo have announced new dates for their summer sleepover experience. That’s right, this summer you could be snoozing within roaring distance of the lions at the zoo-perb London Zoo Lodges experience.
Due to popular demand, the conservation zoo have ever-so-kindly added extra dates so that more animal-loving Londoners can experience an after-hours prowl around the zoo and a night snuggled up in one of their cosy lodges.
Ensuring that there’s the perfect package for everyone; plenty of dates have been added throughout July and August with experiences tailor-made for families with children and adult-only dates (where the only children in sight will be the newly-hatched baby penguins).
Once checked in to their lodge, guests will kick off their experience with a trip to the mane attraction: the Land of the Lions. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see how the zoo’s Asiatic lions (Bhanu and Arya) spend their time after the zoo has closed to the public. Next on the agenda is a delicious two-course meal followed by a sunset sneak peek of the zoo’s nocturnal residents.
Who needs an alarm clock when you have the lions roaring you awake in time for breakfast, hey? Before the zoo opens to the public, sleepover guests will have the chance to enjoy an exclusive morning tour, where they’ll learn more about how London Zoo is working to protect threatened species (both in the zoo and in the wild).
Visitors can put the cherry on top of their one-of-a-kind experience with a day soaking up the festivities at London Zoo’s Big Summer of Fun, or if you fancy venturing out on a day trip; Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire is also included in the package.
All funds raised from the overnight stays go towards the vital wildlife work being done by ZSL, both in the UK and worldwide. So, for a truly unforgettable experience in the heart of London that also supports the conservation zoo’s wonderful conservational work; take a walk (or a sleep) on the wild side this summer.
