Despite the chances of London experiencing a white Christmas this year being about as slim as Trafalgar Square’s Christmas tree; apparently not all is yet lost. The latest weather predictions have revealed that this is still a tiny shred of hope for us Londoners to cling onto for dear life. And so, that is exactly what you’ll find us doing for the next three weeks.
Regardless of how you feel about snow (and the rather underwhelming attempt that London usually has at it), it’s undeniable that experiencing an actual white Christmas would be pretty magical. So, what’s the likelihood of it happening, I hear you ask? Well, I wouldn’t dust off your snow suits just yet, folks.
The team at online betting guide, OLGB.com, have shared the latest predictions of the UK’s odds of experiencing a white Christmas. It will come as a shock to absolutely no-one that the Scottish cities are dominating the latest betting market. Aberdeen currently has a 50% chance of seeing a festive flurry, whereas the English city with the highest odds (Newcastle) only has a 33.3% chance of a white Christmas.
The city with the lowest chances of experiencing a white Christmas is – you guessed it – London. Our capital city only has an 11.1% chance of seeing snow on Christmas day. But 11.1% is better than 0%, so we’ll roll with it for now.
