We’ve officially reached that time of the year in London when the weather doesn’t know if it’s coming or going – and, quite frankly, neither do I. We’re having to leave the house with enough outfit changes to see us through multiple seasons in the space of a couple of hours. And truly have no idea whether we’ll require an umbrella, a winter coat, or an industrial strength fan from one moment to the next. Ahh, don’t you just love the British climate?
Well, contrary to what the last couple of days might have led you to believe, summer isn’t over yet. That’s right, put down your pumpkin spice latte and precariously shove the chunky knitwear back into the wardrobe, because it seems as though the sun has decided to come out for a final hurrah next week before officially calling it a day for the year.

So, when exactly can we Londoners expect to bask in the final rays of summer sun? Well, the sun will start to show its face again from tomorrow, with temperature reaching highs of 20°C over the next few days. On Saturday (September 12), however, the sun will be shining all day in London and the temperature is set to hit 23°C. On Sunday (September 13), the temperature will creep up to 24°C, and – hold onto your hats, folks – on Monday (September 14), the temperature will soar to 25°C in certain parts of the city. Can you believe it?
As exciting as this information may be for those of us who aren’t yet quite ready to wave goodbye to the summer, it’s certainly not all fantastic news. With the ‘largest El Nino in living memory’ currently developing over the Pacific Ocean, the UK is set to face some rather extreme weather once we are finally plunged into autumn and winter. So, keep those brollys nearby, just in case.
