We’re mere moments away from London undergoing its annual festive glow-up, folks. The fairy lights are being untangled, the wine is being mulled, and many of the city’s legendary locales are announcing their upcoming Christmas plans.
One particular spot that’s just revealed its holly jolly happenings is the London Transport Museum. The much-loved museum will soon be spreading some family-friendly festive cheer in the heart of Covent Garden. And they’ve also announced those three little words that can make even the grumpiest of Grinches crack a seasonal smile: kids go free.
Christmas at London Transport Museum
From November 27 to January 4, Londoners and beyond can hop aboard for some festive fun and frolics at the London Transport Museum. The museum will be offering a jam-packed programme of family-friendly events to celebrate the season. Visitors will have the chance to follow a yuletide trail through the museum’s fascinating galleries, meet a lively cast of characters from London’s past, and – of course – say hello to Santa before he heads to the North Pole.

Santa will be setting up shop until December 23 inside a vintage Routemaster bus-inspired interactive sleigh. Children can climb aboard, flash the headlights, ring the bell, and have the magical moment captured by one of the cheerful elves on hand.
The festive trail will offer guests the opportunity to uncover over 200 years of history. But if that’s not enough, a cast of characters from London’s past will be dotted throughout the museum, bringing the city’s extensive transport history to life. Visitors will have the chance to meet four fascinating characters. There will be a Victorian lady, a tram passenger, an Auxiliary Fire Service wartime volunteer, and a 1970s Caribbean conductor. And each of them will share their stories, and reveal their Christmassy connections to London and its trailblazing transport network.
Children go free, and adult tickets include free entry return for an entire year. Full steam ahead for Christmas at London Transport Museum.
