Running culture in London has truly taken on a life of its own in recent years, and we absolutely love to see it. With such a fantastic variety of clubs on offer, both seasoned runners and total beginners can find like-minded communities to run with. Whether you’re looking to tear through the town with the music blaring, or simply want an excuse to get outdoors and socialise with new people, you can bet your bottom dollar there’s a team of trainer-clad Londoners ready to welcome you with open arms. So we’ve partnered with Corona to round up some of the best London running groups, as well as a few spots to enjoy a cold, refreshing Corona or Corona Cero afterwards.
1. Frontrunners
Championing diversity and inclusivity first and foremost, Frontrunners is the largest LGBTQ+ sports club in Europe. They meet on Mondays (Regent’s Park), Wednesdays (Hyde Park), Thursdays (Battersea Park) and Sundays (South Bank), giving you more than enough flexibility to squeeze a run into even the busiest of schedules. Plus, they even hold regular social events and regular running trips around the UK.
Surrounded by such beautiful scenery, it would be simply criminal not to take a moment to let the endorphins wash over you. So why not put down a blanket, grab some cold Coronas and watch the sun go down after your run.
2. Run Dem Crew
Preferring the term ‘crew’ over ‘club’ for its connotations of togetherness, Charlie Dark founded his collective in 2007 to cultivate a positive and encouraging running community. It is not a place for personal bests, but instead for building connections and lifting each other up. Run Dem Crew meet at 6.30pm at LuluLemon in Spitalfields, and head off for a leisurely 5k at 7pm.
Once you’ve wrapped up your run, why not head to Crown & Shuttle for a cold Corona Cero? Less than ten minutes from Run Dem Crew’s meeting point, this award-winning East London pub has a lovely bustling beer garden, perfectly for unwinding after working up a little sweat.
3. Midnight Runners
From bootcamp runs with exercise breaks to track sessions and party runs, Midnight Runners have an event to cater for everyone. Whilst they do favour a later evening meet, you’re not actually going to be summoned to the streets in the dead of night. But if you did feel like letting your hair down afterwards, they host a weekend run with a 1am afterparty – and that’s exactly the kind of balanced lifestyle we’re all about.
4. Tempo London
If you’re an aspiring musician or DJ in South who’s keen to combine their passion at a fun, active social event, then Tempo London is the one of the London running groups you need to add to your list. Their free, 5k runs are held every Tuesday at 6.45pm, finishing with an open deck DJ session at Peckham Levels. Much like their ethos with running, deck sessions are open to all ability levels – and there’s nothing like some gentle exercise to help you shake off any nerves and enjoy yourself!
Whether or not you’re staying for the open deck DJ session, Peckham Levels is a great spot for a post-jog drink. Enjoy sweeping views of the South London skyline with a cold Corona from their bar.
5. Mafia Moves
This North London group meets on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and they’re all about holding uplifting, supportive sessions where people feel inspired to grow in (and out) of their running journeys. Runs are free to join, and open to everyone regardless of their experience, goals and fitness levels.
Not far from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium you’ll find The Bluecoats, an old school pub with a great beer garden – the perfect place to decompress after your run with some of their delicious food and a Corona.
