As expensive as London may be, there are a number of free staples—museums, gigs, viewing platforms, more!—that can soften the blow. Sadly, cold pints of delicious delicious lager are far away from that particular category. Orders of the brews are getting close to £8 a pop in some places, denting our bank accounts as much as our general state of concentration.
But, this week, the lack of beer on the house is about to be turned on its head, with pubs owned by the chain Greene King is giving its patrons a pint for free.
It comes in celebration of Flint Eye and Level Head, and those hankering for a free beer must simply nominate a friend that they view as a “legendary best mate”. We’re sure many of you have a multitude of pals that come under that banner, but once you’ve narrowed it down to one, you’ll just need to head to their website and share this by October 11.
Between October 13-15, an e-coupon will then be sent over that’ll give you the rights to a free pint of Flint Eye or Level Head.
What’s the catch? Fair question: none. It’s simply recognising Greene King’s new national research that found 60% of British people refer to their best mate as a “legend”. Nobody—especially not a legend—would turn down a free pint to wet the whistle and start off Friday night in the correct manner, would they? No, I daresay they would not.
Speaking on the free pints, Will Hemmings, Greene King’s brewing and brands marketing director, said: “According to our data, a pint of beer is the best drink to enjoy with a best mate, so we feel it’s only right that our customers can enjoy a free Flint Eye or Level Head with the legend in their life.
“Both of these award-winning beers are available in hundreds of pubs across the UK so, wherever you are, make sure to nominate your very own legend and treat yourself, and them of course, to a free pint!”
Hundreds of Greene King pubs are participating, so find your nearest and take advantage of that sweet, sweet free pint.
