The Pizza Run is heading back to London for 2019. Are you ready to be powered by pizza?
Inspired by NYC’s famous Pizza Run, this carb-tastic event combines a 5k or 10k race with pizza breaks on each lap. (Photo by @nycpizzarun)
Someone extremely intelligent thought it would be a good idea to recreate the Stateside phenomenon here in the UK, setting up ‘Pizza 5ks’ in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, and of course, London. And they were right. Last year’s races were a huge success so, naturally, they’re doing it all again. (See our guide to running events in London.)
The location of the race is yet to be confirmed – although last year’s took place on Mudchute Farm in east London, so that could be a clue. They’ve also extended the course, so runners can choose to stick with the 5k, or ambitiously tackle the 10. NB: more kilometres may well equal more pizza, so that’s probably worth considering.
Tickets cost £19.99 (+ booking fee) if you’re running the 5k, or £24.99 for the 10k. Race entry includes your number, two slices of pizza, a shiny finishers medal and access to the afterparty. There’ll be pizza-themed prizes for top finishers and, yes, fancy dress is absolutely encouraged.
