Last week, we probably all battled with ourselves not to turn on the heating as temperatures in London plummeted thanks to an arctic chill. This week, we might have to go and get those fans back out of the cupboard, since London looks to be getting a week of heat in stark contrast to the winter preview just endured.
In fact, according to BBC Weather, London will be hotter than sunny Tenerife this week, so perhaps you’ll get to enjoy one last taste of the summer before we batten down the hatches and get prepared for the truly chilly season.
On Wednesday (September 16) and Thursday (September 17), London will enjoy a rather toasty spell of 24°C highs, whereas the beautiful setting in the Canary Islands will only reach 23°C during the same period. Yes, it might be hotter for the vast majority of the time over there, but for this one small period, we can bask in the smugness (and the sunshine!).
While it won’t quite be the same as relaxing away in Tenerife, you will get a dose of sunshine to enjoy a crisp pint after work by a busy Soho street as opposed to beside a beach which is… nearly the same if you really try and see it that way? Still, brown autumn leaves and a dose of sunshine is essentially the best of both worlds – and, if nothing else, this patch of toasty weather will serve as a nice memory to live by when we whip our phones out in January and lament the bare trees and cold fingertips.
London is due to be hotter than Tenerife this week on Wednesday and Thursday. Keep up to date over at BBC Weather.
