Summer is approaching in rapid fashion and the weather finally seems to be catching up.
London’s had a couple of mini-heatwaves this year, but they haven’t quite been blessed with the gift of staying power. Sure, the weather over the Easter bank holiday weekend was lovely, but we want more of the same, please.
It’s safe to say that, in terms of the weather, May has kicked off in a mixed-bag-sort-of-a-way. Neither torrential rain horrible, nor sunbathing in the park brilliant — it’s been plodding along with a few good days here and there. But today, London is enjoying its hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures hitting the toasty heights of 27°C.
We’ll hope that some more days like these are on the way, but for now we’ll definitely take London being hotter than Ibiza right now. Hallelujah! We won’t bet on it staying that way throughout the summer; after all, we aren’t blessed with a Mediterranean climate; but it’s a start.
There’s no chance London will stay as hot as the Spanish island, but for today, it’ll have to make do with a measly 24°C, compared to London’s 27°C. I’m sure everyone there will definitely be reading this, fists clenched and in a rage, and definitely not enjoying their beautiful setting. Definitely.
Still, we won’t go rebranding London as a party island by the sea just yet, but we will suggest getting the barbecues out this evening and prepare for those picnics in the park. Hopefully, this is just the start, and the heatwaves keep on coming throughout the summer. May the odds be in our favour!
