London City Airport has served as a handy hub for hotfooting it out of the city for almost 40 years now, with the first commercial flight having taken off back in 1987. And to mark this rather monumental milestone, the most convenient airport in the capital city is certainly celebrating in style. Next year, the first ever luxury lounge will land at London City Airport, ready to level up the pre-flight experience for its passengers.
A luxury pre-flight lounge is landing at London City Airport next year
London City Airport’s shiny new lounge will boast a ‘modern luxury design’, views across the runways, and the kind of lobby that resembles that of a 5-star hotel. The lobby will seamlessly transport travelers from security to serenity, and the lounge will offer a little pocket of peace within the airport.
Boasting a cocktail bar and barista station, lounge guests will definitely be kept hydrated and caffeinated. There will also be an ever-evolving menu of food and drink inspired by adventure. Sounds pretty exciting, right?

Seeing as almost half of the passengers that pass through the turnstiles at London City Airport are doing so on a business basis, the lounge will be kitted out with a dedicated workspace, complete with plenty of seating and private booths to take phone calls. The lounge will be open for all passengers and can be booked online but will also have walk-in availability.
Construction has already begun and the lounge is set to swing open its doors in early 2027. The opening of the luxurious lounge coincides with the airport’s ambitious growth plans which involve elevating its annual passenger capacity from 6.5 million to a whopping 9 million in the next 5 years. Blimey.
