Just in case you didn’t know, the UK is celebrating Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from June 2 – 5 this year, marking 70 years on throne. For many of us, that means an extended four-day bank holiday weekend, and for London’s buses it means a brand new purple makeover.
One in eight of London’s buses have received a purple and white regal decoration to mark the royal weekend of celebration, and you can catch them out on the streets now!
Bus operators Arriva, RATP, Abellio, Go-Ahead, Metroline and Stagecoach, and is designed to get Londoners in the spirit of the celebrations ahead of the big weekend.
Alongside this, travellers may also hear celebratory messages over the Jubilee weekend when travelling on the brand new Elizabeth line and the Jubilee line. These will also include announcements and displays at stations with a royal link, such as Queensbury, Victoria, Walthamstow Queen’s Road and more.
From May 24, this means you’ll be able to travel on the spruced up buses by tapping in with your all-new Elizabeth line Oyster cards released for the big occasion. Find out how to do just that here.
