(Amster)Damn girl! Get packing, because Eurostar are rolling out their London to Amsterdam service just in time for a spot of Christmas shopping.
Slip on your clogs and make your way to St Pancras International this winter, because Eurostar are launching a service that will get you to the centre of Amsterdam in under four hours. That’s actually quicker than getting to Edinburgh from Euston.
Ah, imagine cycling along the beautiful canals of Amsterdam, a wicker basket filled with cheese and Heineken and tulips. Well, The Netherlands aren’t such a Neverland anymore. Eurostar tickets to Paris and Brussels start from just £25 one way, so this new route is likely to provide serious competition for budget airlines already operating flights to Amsterdam.
This winter you could be exploring the city’s cute Christmas markets, or, if it gets cold enough, ice skating along the frozen canals. If you don’t feel like a winter getaway, just wait for some warmer weather and you’ll have the chance to join one of their 300 festivals and enjoy their tulip-filled parks.
We’re seriously excited about the prospect of taking a trip to Europe without all the inevitable airport drama. No more 4am wake up calls to get a coach to the dreaded Stansted or the ever-present possibility of losing your bag en route and being stuck without a toothbrush. Or a coat.
There’s a choice of two trains a day and they’ll be using snazzy new E320 trains, which boast free wifi and an on-board entertainment streaming service, so you can make your way towards all the stroopwafels you can eat, in style.
