When the group behind this were workshopping who to theme a pop-up London deli around, I hope whoever put the name ‘Liza Minnelli’ was given a big ol’ bonus. It’s just too perfect, isn’t it? Honours an icon and feels like genius Cockney rhyming slang.
Deliveroo has teamed up with queer performance charity Raze Collective to deliver ‘Liza The Deli & Friends’. It marks 50 years of Pride in London and recognises the integral element of performance art in the celebrations.
At this immersive pop-up, visitors will be treated to a ‘Liza’ performance from Drag Race vs The World winner Blu Hydrangea, plus a group of artists from Raze, live from the cabaret-themed shop window. You’ll find the Liza Minnelli deli at 22 Greek Street in Soho on June 25 – 26.
At the shop, guests can ‘eat an icon’ by purchasing some dazzling snacks inspired by LGBTQ+ stars, and Cabaret star Liza Minnelli is at the forefront for being a “champion and frontrunner in the community”. Plus, you’ll be able to show your style by waltzing down a catwalk on your way to procuring your item of choice.
All profits made ‘Liza The Deli & Friends’ are going to Raze Collective, with the sum total also being matched by Deliveroo. Each item has a minimum donation recommendation of £5, and proceeds go towards giving LGBTQ+ performers opportunities in creative fields.
Cassie Leon, Lead Producer at Raze Collective said: “Raze Collective are really excited to team up with Deliveroo this Pride season! Liza The Deli & Friends will give Raze Collective a great chance to take over more spaces with exciting, fun and creative queer cabaret.
“As a charity that supports the nurturing of queer performance we are always on the look out for unique spaces to perform in. This amazing deli will be the perfect place to highlight, showcase and celebrate queer performers.”
Now, if you don’t mind, we’re just going to pop down to the ‘Liza Minnelli’ (deli)!
