Say bonjour to the hottest date on our summer calendars: a picnic in a garden near the Thames that celebrates friendship, delicious spritzes and inspirational women. The Lillet Picnic: Le Rosé Spritz Garden will take over the historical Inner Temple Gardens on July 9, peppering the gorgeous green area with blankets, flowers and female-led market stalls – plus picnic baskets, of course.
The event particularly focuses on championing women. As you indulge in the glorious picnic spread and Lillet Rosé spritzes, you’ll be able to kick back with your crew and listen to an all-female lineup of musical artists, before ambling over to the creators’ market. Here, you’ll find stalls of accessories, bespoke stationary, and candles, handpicked by small business collective Women Will Create, where you’ll be able to browse curios and chat directly with the entrepreneurs themselves.
The hosts of the picnic are Lillet, a wine-based aperitif from Bordeaux. Their eponymous drink is a carefully created mix of French Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc wine grapes, fruit and quinquina infusions; the delightful aperitif makes for the perfect pink spritz. At the Lillet Picnic, you’ll be able to create and sip on your very own, personalised spritz.
Inner Temple Gardens, located between Blackfriars and Temple, has a rich history dating back as early as the 14th century, surviving the Great Fire of London, two world wars and much more. Today, the city oasis welcomes members of the public on set days and times during the week; the exclusive Lillet Picnic will take place while the garden is closed to the public.
The Lillet Picnic will start at 12pm, and run until 6pm, so you can make the most of the long daylight hours. While the event champions women, everyone is invited to join in the fun, so grab your friends, and make a beeline for Inner Temple Park this July.
