Would you believe us if we said that the world’s tiniest chef, at just 6cm tall, can cook up a storm? Well, meet Le Petit Chef, the ‘chef’ in the eponymous restaurant that is as much an immersive dinner show and 3D cinema experience as it is a gastronomic delight.
Tucked away inside the London Cabaret Club, you’ll find the suitably theatrical dining experience. Before, during, and after your meal, your table comes to life as Le Petit Chef cooks up your meal. But this is hardly a bog-standard representation of just a tiny chef cooking. Instead, dollops of imagination have been infused into the dinner show that sees the tiny chef doing much more than just preparing your meal.
Each dish has its own theme and storyline. These are then reflected in the show through music and props that brilliantly segue into the food’s physical arrival on the table.
So how is it done? Le Petit Chef is brought to life by projectors hanging above your table. These use 3D projection mapping to paint your table with vivid objects and colours and, of course, the world’s smallest chef. The show doesn’t just take place on the table, though, as it also takes over your plate and cutlery.
Le Petit Chef and Friends
Now, similarly to many other London restaurants, Le Petit Chef’s food changes throughout the year to suit the seasons. But more than that, the show itself changes too! The current experience imbues a sense of competition into the show, as well as international flavours. Le Petit Chef and Friends sees diners being served four courses, each prepared by a different tiny chef. And each chef comes from a different country from around the world – from Spain, Italy, Japan, and, of course, France. Each chef wants to impress the diners and win the golden chef’s hat at the end of the meal.
While the dishes change based on the season, the menu at the time of writing includes San Marzano Tomato Salad, Lobster Ravioli, Beef Tenderloin, and Matcha Cheesecake. However, there are also vegetarian and kid-friendly menus available.
So, which tiny chef makes the best food? And which one will emerge the victor at the end of the night? Well, you’ll have to go along, taste the food, experience the show, and find out for yourself!
