Ahh 1986: what a year, hey? Top Gun hit the big screen, Neighbours was aired in the UK, the first disposable camera was released, and the average cost of a house in London was £55,000 – can you even imagine?! 1986 was also the year in which a lovely little French restaurant set up shop on a Covent Garden corner.
Over the past forty years, this independently-run restaurant has truly stood the test of time; overcoming every adversity that’s been chucked in its direction. It’s certainly nice to see that it’ll take more than a recession, a global pandemic, and a cost-of-living crisis to stop the peckish people of London from getting their French food fix, right?
Le Garrick is now mere moments away from turning the big four-zero. And to mark this rather momentous milestone, the beloved brasserie is throwing it back to the year it swung open its gorgeous green doors – and plans to party (and charge its customers) like its 1986.

Le Garrick 40th anniversary celebration
For one day only, Le Garrick will be turning back the clocks on its menu pricing; offering guests the chance to tuck into the delicious French fare at 1986 prices as a thank you for the support over the past four decades. The restaurant – which is now owned by a couple who first met inside it 20 years ago – will be serving up the wallet-friendly menu on June 29 (next Monday). Mouth-watering menu items include French soup (which will cost just £1.20), Moules frites (which will set diners back just £5.50), and banoffee pie (for just £2).
That’s not all, folks. Whilst the outrageously low-cost menu items will only be available on June 29, Le Garrick is celebrating its 40th birthday for the entire month. From now until July 10, diners can sink their teeth into a special celebratory 3-course menu for just £19.86. Aren’t they generous?
Whilst a whole lot has changed over the past forty years, Le Garrick has remained proudly in the heart of the capital city, serving up scrumptious food, great wine, and simply immaculate vibes. Here’s to another 40 years of deliciousness.
