In keeping with their reputation for intriguing, left-of-centre, and never-boring programming, Wide Awake has just announced the headliner for their 2025 festival. None other than Irish-language rap trio Kneecap will take to the Brockwell Park stage on May 23, 2025, with their infamous mix of outspoken social commentary and satire. It’s sure to be an unmissable performance.
Kneecap comprises Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, who have recently catapulted onto the world stage with the release of their second album, Fine Art, and their biographical(ish) eponymous film – which stars the trio alongside Michael Fassbender, Josie Walker, and more.
Wide Awake Festival
The headliner announcement comes shortly after Wide Awake announced that they would be moving their festival date from Saturday back to its original Friday position. This move makes room for the Field Day Festival, which is moving back to its OG Brockwell Park location in 2025, and taking the Saturday slot.
As with every year, Wide Awake continues to platform up-and-coming talent alongside established names across all manner of genres. They are an “independent festival united by a love of music that is unconstrained by genre or convention”. The festival also prides itself on presenting line-ups with an equal gender split, and their recent “‘Positive Policy’, which was set up to change the way live music events affect the planet.”
Other confirmed acts for Wide Awake 2025 include:
- CMAT
- English Teacher
- Daniel Avery
- SPRINTS
- Mannequin Pussy
- Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
- Martin Rev
- Mermaid Chunk
- and more…
And there are many more acts still to be announced!
Wide Awake will take place on May 23, 2025, at Brockwell Park, Brockwell Park Gardens, Brixton, SE24 0NG.
