In a bid to improve the in-flight passenger experience on its short-haul services, a major airline has just launched free Wi-Fi on board all of its European flights. The airline in question is KLM, and the Dutch operator will officially be one of the first European airlines to offer this game-changing perk.
The airline added 12 shiny new A321neo aircrafts to its fleet last year that will exclusively serve European destinations. Alongside more modern and comfortable seats, these new planes will also offer free internet access to all passengers. In regards to the airline’s older vehicles; the complimentary Wi-Fi is currently available on around half of KLM’s aircrafts, but over the next few years, it will be extended to all of KLM’s European journeys. KLM doesn’t offer in-seat entertainment on its short-haul services, so this free internet is sure to come as a welcome upgrade to passengers who will now be able to scroll, stream, and send emails in the sky.

How can passengers access the free Wi-Fi?
To access the complimentary Wi-Fi, passengers will need to sign up for a Flying Blue frequent flyer account. Registration is free, and once signed up, passengers can log-in and enjoy.
Where does KLM fly to from London?
KLM operate from London Heathrow and London City airports. KLM’s short-haul schedule from London is fairly small, only currently offering services Amsterdam and Antwerp. But Londoners can also hop on a number of KLM services heading directly to the USA.
Stephanie Putzeist, a customer experience representative at KLM, said: “We listen carefully to what our passengers value and free internet has been on their wish list for some time. Through this step, we are making travel within Europe most personal and comfortable: everyone can plan their flight in their own way and stay connected. We are delighted to realize this now for our passengers.”
