Picture the scene: you’re sitting back, perhaps even lying down, and enjoying a picnic with your friends on a warm summer day. You’re surrounded by the jaw-dropping natural scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kew Gardens. And you’re being serenaded by Ronan Keating, Beverley Knight, and -checks notes- JLS. Sounds pretty brilliant, right? Well, that’s exactly what’s in store for you this summer at this year’s Kew Gardens music festival, Kew the Music.
In the midst of the seemingly endless announcements of festival headliners and star-studded gigs coming to London, Kew the Music has now revealed even more of the musical treats that are in store for attendees. Running for seven days (July 8-14), the festival will treat audience members to a series of picnic concerts and events. Following the announcement of headliners just under a month ago, they’ve now named some support acts. And we’re buzzing from the sound of it all!
Kew the Music headliners
Two events will bookend five days of concerts as part of Kew the Music. These will see the Kew Gardens music festival open and close with discussions and performances that encapsulate the ethos of joining together the worlds of music and nature. These are the headliners for Kew the Music:
- An Evening in Conversation with Monty Don – Monday, July 8
- Mika – Tuesday, July 9
- Support acts still to be announced
- Ronan Keating – Wednesday, July 10
- Support acts still to be announced
- Passenger – Thursday, July 11
- Plus Gabriella Aplin
- JLS – Friday, July 12
- Plus Tinchy Stryder
- Beverley Knight – Saturday, July 13
- Plus Asa
- An Evening with Richard Ashcroft – Sunday, July 14
- Plus Jamie Webster and Callum Beattie
So, it all kicks off with one of the UK’s most famously green-fingered gents, Monty Don, and closes with a British music icon, Richard Ashcroft (of The Verve). Sprinkled in between are all manner of acts, with at least one to suit almost any musical taste.
In between performances you can graze from your own picnic (unlike many outdoor festivals, guests can bring their own food and drink!) or hit up the open-air bars and street-food stalls. There are even ticket options that come with a picnic hamper and BBQ packages included.
Tickets are now on sale for all dates of the Kew The Music festival.
Kew the Music runs from Jul 8 – July 14, 2024, at the Kew Gardens. Find out more and grab your tickets to the Kew Gardens music festival here.
